A Case of Erythroleukemia

Abstract

|
A 32-year-old male patient diagnosed as erythroleukemia is described. This patient presented with gingival hypertrophy and bleeding. Peripheral blood smear examination showed increased blasts (80%) and frequently nucleated red cells (17/100 WBCs). Bone marrow aspiration revealed proliferation of erythroid as well as myeloid cell line, with megaloblastic dyserythropoietic features in normoblasts and Auer rods in myeloblasts. Dysmegakaryopoiesis was also evident, showing megakaryocytes with bizarre nuclear morphology and abnormal lobulation.
This patient received remission induction chemotherapy with TAD-VP16 and on the 22nd day after induction chemotherapy bone marrow aspiration and biopsy revealed complete remission state.
